Garibaldi Pro is Unable to Connect to ERUSB Serial Interface

Issue

I have an ERUSB interface connected to my computer, but Garibaldi Pro shows " no serial interface connected."

Explanation of Issue

There are a variety of reasons this can happen. Sometimes it can be as simple as a reboot, but this could also be a missing driver or a hardware issue.

Solution

The following solutions are presented in order of how often they are needed.

  1. Make sure you are on the latest version of Garibaldi Pro (currently 3.1.2 as of 10/27/2025).
  2. If you are fully up to date, reboot your computer with the ERUSB plugged in.
  3. If it is on, turn off Blueooth.
  4. Windows device manager should show the following:

If this is present, make sure it disappears if you unplug the ERUSB. If it does not, there is another device blocking the COM port. Try disabling this device, then rebooting with your ERUSB connected.
  5. If you do not have the ports section, download the Windows FTDI drivers from this link.
    1. If your computer is running on a standard x64 processor, you can install the setup executable (direct download link).
    2. If your computer has an ARM64 processor, you will need to download the ARM64 release and manually install it according to the directions beginning on page 8 of the install guide (section 3.3: manual installation).
  6. If you have access to a different computer or ERUSB, it is worth trying one of those to see if the issue is with your computer or the interface.
  7. If none of the above steps work, please contact ETC technical services for assistance.
