Perform Abort Boot on Legacy Unison Processors (CMEd, CME, CMEi)
Issue & Explanation of Issue
A Legacy Unison Processor (CMEd, CME, or CMEi) is unable to access Arch Menu, may be stuck in Timed Event Sync, or otherwise is locked up. This may be due to a corrupted configuration, which can be cleared from the processor by performing an Abort boot. Performing an Abort Boot will delete the configuration from the processor.
An Abort Boot generally should only be performed if there is a verified backup of the system configuration. A configuration may already be stored on a floppy disk, or otherwise a copy may exist at ETC or the Dealer who installed the system. If a backup does not exist then a new configuration will need to be written from scratch by an ETC Authorized Dealer.
Solution
The instructions below require accessing menus through hidden buttons, which are noted in the image below.
- Tap [Reset] twice, waiting a brief moment after the first press once the screen illuminates again.
- After it finishes booting the configuration should be gone.
- If the Unison Menu > Arch is inaccesible a repair is necessary. Contact your ETC Authorized Dealer to set up a repair. If the Arch menu is accessible then proceed to the next step
- It's possible bits of information still exist in the flash memory, so ETC also recommends the following steps to ensure the remnants are flushed entirely before loading a fresh config.
- Follow the steps in How to Initialize Flash on Legacy Unison Processor
- Load the backup configuration as noted in Loading a Unison Architectural Configuration
