Changing from Belden 9729 to Cat5 for DMX Mid-Run or Vice Versa

Issue

When wiring a DMX system it may sometimes be necessary to change wire types at some point in the run.

Explanation of Issue

As Cat5 cannot be terminated on a screw down terminal, and Belden 9729 (or recommended DMX wire) cannot be terminated in an IDC connector, this requires a way to transition from one wire type to another.

Solution

A small transition card can be used to transfer from one to the other.  You will need this card as well as a screw terminal termination kit and an IDC termination kit.  The part numbers are as follows:

4100A1012 DMX Prep Kit with SCR Connector (for Belden 9729 or equivalent)

4100A1013 DMX Prep Kit with IDC Connector (for Cat5 or equivalent)

7099B5602 DMX I/O Assembly

These parts can be ordered via your favorite ETC dealer.  To find a dealer please click here.
