Response Mk2 CPU2 4-port DIN: Port 3 and 4 indicators flipped when set as input

Symptoms

On my Response Mk2 CPU2 4-port DIN gateway, when I set port 3 and/or port 4 as an input, the indicator lights behave incorrectly.

  • If port 3 is set as an input, the blue LED indicator shows up on port 4's LED instead.
  • If port 4 is set as an input, the blue LED indicator shows up on port 3's LED instead.
  • If both ports 3 and 4 are set as inputs, their indicators are swapped.

When ports 3 and 4 are both set as outputs (or disabled), their indicator lights function normally.

Explanation

This behavior is due to a hardware issue on earlier versions of the gateway. The issue only affects the indicator lights; the gateway will continue to function normally with regards to data input/output on each port.

This issue only affects Response Mk2 CPU2 4-port DIN gateways (4268A1244). It does not affect the rackmount variant, nor does it affect any CPU1 hardware or any 1-port, 2-port, or 8-port gateways.

If you are experiencing this issue, you can work around it by using ports 1 and 2 as inputs instead, as their indicator lights will behave correctly. If this is not possible in your system (for example, if you need all 4 ports to be inputs), please contact ETC Technical Services for assistance.
