Vertical White Line or Scrambled Text on Response Gateway Screen

Issue

On my Response Mk2 DMX gateway, there is a white vertical line visible on the screen, about two-thirds of the way towards the right edge of the screen.

OR

On my Response MIDI, SMPTE, Serial, Analog IO, or 0-10V gateway, or Response SnapBack, the text on the display appears scrambled or corrupted, with random black or white pixels scattered across the screen.

Explanation of Issue

In June 2026, the OLED screen used in all Response gateways went obsolete and was replaced by a new component. To support this new OLED screen, new gateway software versions were released. Any gateway with the new OLED screen will have an indication on its serial number sticker showing the lowest supported software version by that gateway.

Gateways should not be downgraded below the version indicated. If they are downgraded below the indicated version, the display issues shown above may occur.

Minimum version by gateway type
  • Response Mk2 CPU2 DMX Gateway with new OLED screen
    • 3.2.1 or higher
  • Response Mk2 (CPU1) DMX Gateway with new OLED screen
    • 2.2.1 or higher
  • Response MIDI, SMPTE, and Serial Gateways with new OLED screen
    • 2.3.1 or higher
  • Reponse Analog IO Gateway and Response SnapBack with new OLED screen
    • 2.0.2 or higher
  • Response 0-10V Gateway R3
    • 4.0.1 or higher

Existing gateways with the older OLED screen can be upgraded to the newer software versions without issues. These versions are fully compatible with both types of OLED screen.

Solution

Update the gateway back to its minimum supported version or higher using UpdaterAtor 7.0.1 or later.

If you have trouble with this process, or if the display issues persist after updating, contact ETC Technical Services.
