Steps to repair
The steps below detail how to strip down a ColorSource Par to the casing. It is recommended to read through the whole document before starting, so as not to unnecessarily dismantle a part that can stay intact.
For any questions or concerns, please contact your local ETC tech service department.
Disconnect mains power before servicing, and wait at least 1 hour before starting work so that capacitors can discharge. Only proceed if you feel comfortable doing so

In this guide, we refer to the left and right sides of the fixture as seen from the back of the fixture, with the gel clip at the top. The right side has the tilt lock clutch plate, the left does not
Opening the casing

1. Place the fixture on an anti-static mat. The yoke needs to be removed for any internal repairs. Remove the yoke by removing the tilt lock handle and the 2 bolts |

2. Remove the 4 screws in the deep recesses in the left side of the fixture |

3.Gently lift the left side metalwork off ℹ️ For most repairs, unless replacing one of the metalwork halves, the halves can stay connected with the earth bond 🛠️ When re-assembling, ensure the gel clip rod and spring are aligned correctly and slide into the hole on the left-hand metalwork |

| 4. Remove the 3 screws that hold the electronics assembly to the right metalwork | ![]() |
| 5. Gently lift the electronics assembly out of the right metalwork | ![]() |
Replacing the PSU
Follow steps 6 - 8 if replacing the control card, then skip to next section
|
6. Disconnect the array harness and fan wires from the control card ⚠️ The fans wire tabs are fragile. If re-using the control card, use only enough force to release the wire |

7. Remove the 2 screws holding the PSU/control card frame to the array head
|

8. Remove the 6 screws holding the control card to the frame. Lift the control card gently off

9. To replace the PSU, disconnect all harnesses (AC, DC, earth bond), and unscrew the 4 screws ℹ️ If only replacing the PSU, stop here and re-assemble |

Replacing the control card and array
The control card and array are always swapped as a pair from a kit

10. Release the DC input wires from the connector ⚠️ The tabs are fragile. If re-using the control card, use only enough force to release the wire |

11. Remove the 4 XLR screws to release the control card from the rear panel 🛠️ The control card and array kit comes with new thermal pads |

12. To remove or replace the fan, remove these 4 screws 🛠️ Note fan direction (sticker towards array) and wire exit (control card side) ℹ️ This step is also required to access the array

13. Remove the 7 screws from the fan plate and 3 from the heatsink Lift the fan plate and heatsink off. The array is now accessible

| 14. When replacing the array, align it with the + shaped plastic pegs on the lens holder | ![]() |
General reassembly notes
|
Follow these steps in reverse to reassemble, paying attention to individual reassembly notes Respect the polarity of the DC and fan wires on the control card. If not explicitly marked, the red (+) connection should have a small triangle next to it When re-seating the electronics assembly in the right casing, ensure you have a snug fit. The rear panel should sit firmly at the back,and all 3 screw holes should line up
