ColorSource Par V Zoom Complete Repair Guide
Tools required
- Torx 20 driver
- PH2 screwdriver
- PZ2 screwdriver
- PH1 screwdriver
- Plastic spudger
- Wago 2059 poking tool or paperclip
- 7mm nut spinner
- 10mm spanner/wrench (yoke bolts)
Steps to repair
The steps below detail how to strip down a ColorSource Par V Zoom to the casing. It is recommended to read through the whole document before starting, so as not to unnecessarily dismantle a part that can stay intact.
For any questions or concerns, please contact your local ETC tech service department.
Disconnect mains power before servicing, and wait at least 1 hour before starting work so that capacitors can discharge. Only proceed if you feel comfortable doing so

In this guide, we refer to the left and right sides of the fixture as seen from the back of the fixture, with the gel clip at the top. The right side has the tilt lock clutch plate, the left does not
Opening the casing

1. Place the fixture on an anti-static mat. The yoke needs to be removed for any internal repairs. Remove the yoke by removing the tilt lock handle and the 2 bolts |

2. Remove the 4 screws in the deep recesses in the left side of the fixture |
 |
|
3.Gently lift the left side metalwork off ℹ️ The halves can be separated by removing the earth bond from the left metalwork - this may make the rest of the job easier 🛠️ ️ When re-assembling, ensure the gel clip rod and spring are aligned correctly and slide into the hole on the left-hand metalwork |

| 4. The zoom knob assembly may come away with either side. For re-assembly, it will be placed in the right side. Remove it at this stage by sliding it out |  |
| 5.Remove the front lens by lifting it out (some gentle wiggling may be required) 🛠Lens positioning is crucial, see detailed reassembly notes |

| 6. Remove the rear lens by lifting it out 🛠Lens positioning is crucial, see detailed reassembly notes |

| 7. Using a gloved hand, remove the reflector by gently pulling forwards, then upwards, so the rear of the reflector can pass the lip around the array |

| 8. Remove the 2 screws that hold the electronics assembly to the right-side metalwork Lift the entire electronics assembly vertically out of the metalwork |

Replacing the PSU
| 9. Disconnect the AC and DC headers (DC shown removed already) Remove the PSU by removing the 4 screws 🛠Ensure the insulator is placed back correctly as shown |

Replacing the control card
The control card and array are always swapped as a pair from a kit
Step 9 is not necessary for this

10. Remove all connections from the control card Fan wiring: push into each hole with the Wago 2059 tool (or paperclip) and pull the wire out 🛠Tool not required for re-insertion, simply push the wire in |

11. NFC ribbon cable: very gently move the retaining bar in the direction of the arrows. The bar remains captive in the connector |

12. Array ribbon cable: very gently move the retaining bar in the direction of the arrows. The bar remains captive in the connector |

13. DC power connection: press gently on each tab to remove the wire ⚠️ If re-using the control card, use only enough force to remove the wire. The connector tab can snap |

| 14. Multiverse antenna cable: lift very gently from under the cable nearest the connector, or use a plastic spudger under the tail of the connector, to lift it off as near-vertically as possible |  |
| 15. Remove the 4 XLR screws |  |
| 16. Remove the 4 screws and remove the control card from the frame |  |
Replacing the array

17. The array is easily accessible. Remove the ribbon cable as in step 12 Remove the 4 screws and lift the array off Clean the face of the heatsink with alcohol before placing new array 🛠️ The array kit comes with a thermal foil square. Place this on the heatsink and ensure it is free of bubbles or creases |

Replacing the fan

18. The control card doesn't need to be fully removed for this. Release the NFC ribbon cable, fan wiring, and Multiverse antenna cable, then remove the XLR screws to flip the grille back and access the fan Remove the 4 nuts 🛠Respect the fan orientation when replacing |

Reassembly notes
|
Reassemble the fixture by following the steps backwards from where you finished It is crucial the lenses be aligned correctly on reassembly, otherwise the optics will not function! 1. The clear lens goes at the back (nearest the array), and the diffused lens in the black holder goes at the front 2. The bumpy sides of the lenses face each other 3. The clear (rear) lens has several notches around the edge. One notch is larger than the others - this goes at the top of the fixture, diametrically opposite the zoom knob

| 4. Rotate the zoom knob fully clockwise and insert it into the right-side metalwork |  |

5. The front lens holder has a very small notch on the edge, between the two lens holder feet, and diametrically opposite the lens retaining clip This notch lines up with the edge of the inner metal flange of the body, at the bottom (zoom knob) side of the fixture Once the lenses are placed correctly, put the left-side metalwork back on, and test the zoom knob |
