Steps to repair

The steps below detail how to strip down a Source 4WRD Color II to the casing. It is recommended to read through the whole document before starting, so as not to unnecessarily dismantle a part that can stay intact.

For any questions or concerns, please contact your local ETC tech service department.

Disconnect mains power before servicing, and wait at least 1 hour before starting work so that capacitors can discharge. Only proceed if you feel comfortable doing so

The "light bulb" part is extremely fragile and can easily be damaged beyond repair. Take extra care when working on this product

Replacing the PSU

2. Disconnect the DC wires from the control card, using the Wago tool to push into each hole ℹ️ Disconnect only the left pair as shown
3. Remove these wires from the cable guide clips on the fan
4. Gently lift the PSU out of the housing ℹ️ The line filter (CE only) and earth bond are still attached to the bottom of the casing, these do not need to be removed to replace the PSU
5. Disconnect the earth bond, AC input, and DC output connectors from the PSU
6. Remove the old PSU from the plate and install the new one ℹ️ The PSU is held on by 2 screws and 2 hooks. Be sure to move the earth bond spade (purple arrow) to the new PSU as well

Replacing the control card & array, or driver card

Note: steps 3-6 are not required for this

7. Remove the 2 screws from the UI/RJ45 area
8. Disconnect the fan wires using the Wago tool Disconnect the ribbon cables from the PCBs by gently lifting the retaining bars
9. Lift the control card and driver card out of the housing together
10. Completely remove the peaking "Z" knob by unscrewing it counter-clockwise This releases the light engine/heatsink/fan assembly from the housing
11. Lift the light engine assembly out of the housing
12. To replace the fan, remove the 4 screws

Reassembly notes

The Source 4WRD is very compact, and care must be taken during reassembly

Ensure the clear window in front of the UI display is in place before replacing the control card
Ensure all plates slide fully into the correct runners
Once the PSU is re-seated, work the excess AC wiring away into the gap, and line up the correct part of the cable with the strain relief metalwork before re-installing the top cover
