Source 4 LED Series 1&2 Hardware Revisions and Changes
Introduction
Source 4 LED Series 1 and Series 2 are built on a common platform, with differences between each variant. Within each variant, there have not been any major hardware changes during their production. Minor changes are outlined below, which may impact spare parts choice and availability
Glass Optics
The hexagonal optical unit that sits directly on top of the LED array has been made of either plastic or glass.
All Series 2 Daylight HD and Tungsten HD fixtures were made with glass optics
All Series 1 fixtures were made with plastic optics. Arrays and upgrade kits are no longer available for Series 1 fixtures.
Early Series 2 Lustr fixtures were made with plastic optics, but later transitions to glass optics. Fixtures with serial numbers beginning with 3 have plastic optics (unless upgraded), while glass optics serial numbers begin with 5.
If a Series 2 Lustr fixture with glass optics requires a new array, this can be purchased as a plain PCB
If a Series 2 Lustr fixture with plastic optics requires a new array, or a new optic, a glass optic upgrade kit can be purchased
Power Supplies
All Series 1 fixtures use 48V DC PSUs. These have not changed
All Series 2 fixtures use 56V DC PSUs
All Series 2 Daylight HD and Tungsten HD fixtures use a 275W PSU with screw-post terminals for DC output
Early Series 2 Lustr PSUs used this same 275W PSU. This was later transitioned to a 250W PSU with a 6-pin header for DC output
If replacing a Series 2 Lustr PSU, you will receive a kit that contains the 250W PSU, plus the necessary adapter plates and wiring harnesses to fit this PSU to the older type of fixture
