How to make Gig Hog's Ethernet Ports work on a Windows Arm64 Computer
Issue
The USB-to-Ethernet bridges integrated into the Gig Hog product generally perform reliably when connected to Windows 10 or Windows 11 systems running on x86 or x64 processors. However, compatibility issues are frequently observed on Windows 11 devices powered by ARM64 architecture. This notably affects many of the latest Surface Laptops and Surface Tablets.
Symptoms
When this issue occurs, all of the following symptoms will be consistently present:
-
Hog PC will fail to display the Gig Hog HogNet and FixtureNet adapters in the adapter selection menus within the Control Panel.
-
Windows Device Manager will list two devices with missing drivers under the network adapters category, typically indicated by warning icons or “Unknown device” labels.
Solution
To ensure proper Gig Hog functionality on ARM64 Windows 11 systems, follow these steps to install the necessary drivers:
-
Disconnect AC power to the Gig Hog Wing.
-
Download the driver package: arm64.zip
-
Unzip the downloaded file to a folder of your choice.
-
Locate the installation file inside the extracted folder: net7800-arm64-n650f
-
Right-click on the net7800-arm64-n650f file
-
Select Install from the context menu
-
Wait for the confirmation message: “The operation completed successfully”
-
Restart the computer (A reboot ensures the driver is properly loaded)
-
Reconnect the Gig Hog to the Computer via USB and then apply AC power to the Gig Hog.
-
Launch Hog PC and verify adapter availability
-
You may also check for successful driver installation and device operation by looking for the Gig Hog’s Network adapter in the Windows device manager.
