GigaPix and MegaPix Programming Notes for Hog v4 and v5 Software

This KMS article will provide examples demonstrating how to use various types of macros, individual pixel control, and pixel mapping on a GigaPix and MegaPix.

How to Use GigaPix Wash

Notes:

  1. When in this mode, the fixture acts like a simple wash, no Marcos or Individual Pixel Control.

 

Apply the following settings to the fixture

  1. Mode: Wash
  2. Pixel Module Mode: Compound

 

Repro:

  1. Patch a GigaPix Wash
  2. Select the Fixture
  3. Put the Intensity at Full
  4. Apply a Color using the Physical Color Mixing

 


How to Use GigaPix Base

Notes:

  1. When in this mode, you can only control the Inclusive and the Static Macros; the Flex Macros will not trigger.
  2. Please see test case, How to Use the Flex Macros: Applying a Color to the Macro and then a different Color to the Base, for more information on using Flex Macros.

 

Apply the following settings to the fixture

  1. Mode: Base
  2. Pixel Module Mode: Compound

 

Repro:

  1. Patch a GigaPix Base
  2. Select the Fixture
  3. Put the Intensity at Full
  4. Apply a Color using the Physical Color Mixing
  5. Select an Inclusive or Static Macro
  6. Put the Intensity at Full
  7. Apply a Color using the Physical Color Mixing

 


How to have just a Single Pixel on

Apply the following settings to the fixture

  1. Mode: Base
  2. Pixel Module Mode: Compound

 

Repro:

  1. Patch a GigaPix Base + Pixel
  2. Select just the Master Part
    • 1(.) Enter
  3. Put the Intensity at Full
  4. Dial the Color Values to 0%
    • Physical Red
    • Physical Green
    • Physical Blue
    • Physical Lime
  5. Fixture should no longer be outputting
  6. Select the Pixel
    • 1.1 Enter
  7. Put the Intensity at Full
  8. Just the Center Pixel should be on
  9. Apply a Color using the Physical Color Mixing

How to have a Color on the Base then a different Color for a Pixel

Apply the following settings to the fixture

  1.  Mode: Base
  2. Pixel Module Mode: Compound

 

Repro:

  1. Patch a GigaPix Base + Pixel
  2. Select just the Master Part
    • 1(.) Enter
  3. Put the Intensity at Full
  4. Apply a Color using the Physical Color Mixing
  5. Select the Cell(s) you want a different color
    • 1.2 through 1.4 Enter
  6. Put the Intensity at Full
  7. Apply a Color using the Physical Color Mixing

How to Pixelmap: Color Content

 

Notes:

  1. This assumes you know how to build a Plot and assign a Pixelmap Layer to the Fixtures.
  2. Ensure not to include the Master Part 1(.) in the Plot

 

Apply the following settings to the fixture

  1. Mode: Base
  2. Pixel Module Mode: Compound

 

Repro: Color Content

  1. Add and Patch a GigaPix Base + Pixel
  2. Add a Pixelmap Layer
  3. Create a Plot with the GigaPix
  4. Select the Whole Fixture
    • 1 Enter
  5. Put the Intensity at Full
  6. Select the Fixture Cells and assign them to listen to the Plot
    • 1.1 through Enter
  7. Apply the Pixelmap Layer to the GigaPix Cells
  8. Ensure the Master Part is not included
  9. Put the Pixelmap Layer Intensity to Full
  10. Apply the following Content to the Layer
    • Folder 3: Colour Waves 1d
    • File: 1

How to Pixelmap: White Content (then adding a color to the content)

Notes:

  1. This assumes you know how to build a Plot and assign a PixelMap Layer to the Fixtures.
  2. Ensure not to include the Master Part 1(.) in the Plot

 

 

Apply the following settings to the fixture

  1. Mode: Base
  2. Pixel Module Mode: Compound

 

Repro: White Content

  1. Add and Patch a GigaPix Base + Pixel
  2. Add a Pixelmap Layer
  3. Create a Plot with the GigaPix
  4. Select the Whole Fixture
    • 1 Enter
  5. Put the Intensity to Full
  6. Set the Fixture Cells so they are listening to the Plot
    • 1.1 through Enter
  7. Apply the Pixelmap Layer to the GigaPix Cells
  8. Ensure the Master Part is not included
  9. Put the Pixelmap Layer Intensity to Full
  10. Apply the following Content to the Layer
    • Folder 2: Basic Motion
    • File: 1
  11. Select the PixelMap Layer
  12. Dial Yellow to 100%
    • You can use Virtual or Physical Color Mixing

Note:

  • If you would like the Base to have a different Color, simply select the Base, 1(.) and apply a color using Physical Color Mixing.

 


How to Use Inclusive Macros

Note:

  1. Inclusive Macros cannot be edited.

 

Apply the following settings to the fixture

  1. Mode: Base + Flex
  2. Pixel Module Mode: Disabled

 

Repro:

  1. Patch a GigaPix Base + Flex
  2. Select the Master Part and the 1st Flex Cell
    • 1(.) + 1(.)1 Enter
  3. Put the Intensity at Full
  4. Select the Master Part
    • 1(.) Enter
  5. Select an Inclusive Macro
  6. Dial the Color Values to 0%
    • Physical Red
    • Physical Green
    • Physical Blue
    • Physical Lime
  7. The Inclusive Macro will be in playback

 


How to Use the Flex Macros: Applying a Color to the Macro and then a different Color to the Base

Notes:

  1. Because not all Macros include a see‑through cell feature, some Flex Macros won’t support a base color.
  2. Certain Macros use every Flex Layer, which means you may need to apply color to all layers before the Macro displays correctly. Until then, it may look as though Intensity is turned off while the Macro is running

 

Apply the following settings to the fixture

  1. Mode: Base + Flex
  2. Pixel Module Mode: Disabled

 

Repro:

  1. Patch a GigaPix Base + Flex
  2. Select the Master Part and the 1st Flex Cell
    • 1(.) + 1(.)1 Enter
  3. Put the Intensity at Full
  4. Apply a Color using the Physical Color Mixing
  5. Select Flex Macro 58
  6. Select the Flex Cell
    • 1.1 Enter
  7. Apply a Color using the Physical Color Mixing

 


How to Use Base + Flex + Pixel: Applying a Color to the Base, a different Color to the Flex Macro, and a different Color to the Pixel

 

Notes:

  1. Because not all Macros include a see‑through cell feature, some Flex Macros won’t support a base color.

  4. Module Priority (you set this on the console)           
  5. Set to pixel over flex over base
  6. Apply a Color using the Physical Color Mixing
  7. Select Flex Macro 58
  8. Select the Flex Cell
    • 1.10 Enter
  9. Put the Intensity at Full
  10. Apply a Color using the Physical Color Mixing
  11. Select a Pixel Cell
    • 1.1 Enter
  12. Put the Intensity at Full
  13. Apply a Color using the Physical Color Mixing

 


How to Use GigaPix in Pixel Independent Mode

 

Notes:

  1. When in this mode, the fixture will allow control from two sources. Source A can control the base functions, while the RGBL LEDS can be controlled from a different source. 
  2. All Base functions will still be available, such as Macros, from Source A.

 

Apply the following settings to the fixture

  1. Mode: Base
  2. Pixel Module
    • Mode: Independent
    • Address: 100
    • Source: sACN
    • Universe: 3

 

Network Setup :

  1. Connect DMX to the fixture for Base control
  2. Connect a Cat5 cable to the fixture for Pixel control

 

Repro:

  1. Patch a GigaPix Base on Source A
  2. Select the Fixture
  3. Put the Intensity at Full
  4. Patch a GigaPix Pixel on Source B
  5. Put the Intensity at Full
  6. Apply a Color using the Physical Color Mixing
