How to Import your Show File from v3 to v5

Symptoms/Issue

The show file I created in v3 software will not load in v4 or v5 software. 

Description/Explanation of Issue

Starting with version 3.21.0 b3657 the v3 software has an export feature that allows you to export your show files programming. 

Starting with version 4.1.0 b3728 the v4 software has an import feature that allows you to import your v3 show files programming. 

This gives you a starting point so you don't have to reprogram your entire show file from scratch.

If it fails to import into v5, try importing it into v4.3 and then launching that show file in v5.

If it fails to export or import , please try the following in v3.21.2 before exporting:

• Log off/Launch show
• Delete any unpatched or unused fixtures in Fixture Builder, then Log off/Launch show
• Look at error message and see if it is a cue list that may be causing the failure

Fix/Solution

1. Install Hog version 3.21.2 b3662

2. Load your Show File

3. Setup

4. Shows

5. Ensure the Current Show tab is selected

6. Select the Export Show Button

7. Export your Show to a USB Stick

8. Install version 4.1.0 b3728 or 5.0.0 b135 and higher 

9. Launch a New Show

10. Setup

11. Shows

12. Ensure the Current Show tab is selected

13. Select the Import Show Button

14. Select the Objects you wish to import

15. After the import is completed be sure to check your show file for the following

    • Color Palettes

    • Color Programming

    • Beam Programming

    • Position Programming

    • Effect Programming

    • Views

    • Scenes

    • Cuelist

Notes: If your show file was created on version 4.0.0 b3673 or higher it will  automatically load in version 5 software.

Once your show file is loaded on v5 it will no longer be compatible with v3 or v4 software.
