Echoflex SimpleTap Basics

Goal

This article serves as an overview of the major functions of Echoflex SimpleTap configuration. This is by no means an exhaustive guide; full instructions can be found in the configuration guide for each controller type on the Echoflex section of our website.

Linking

  1. Press the LEARN button on the controller to send it into Learn mode. The load should begin to flash on and off.
  2. For switches: press the ON side of the switch 3 times. The load should hold on for a moment, then resume flashing.
  3. For sensors/interfaces/MSS stations: press the TEACH button. The load should hold on for a moment, then resume flashing.
Note-Icon.png (If the load holds off after sending the teach command, the switch or device has been unlinked.)
  4. Press the LEARN button again to take the controller out of Learn mode.

The same steps will also un-link a device that has already been linked.

Dimming Levels

Echoflex controllers will remember the last level they were dimmed to after being turned off. Simply dim the controller to the desired level, then turn it off with a single tap of the OFF side of the switch; after this, it will come on to that same level the next time you turn it on with a single press.

Turning on Occupancy Operation

Echoflex controllers do not respond to occupancy commands by default due to energy code requirements in certain territories; however, they have the capability to do so. (note: the exception to this is when only an occupancy sensor is linked to a controller. In this case, the controller will respond to occupancy without further action until a switch is linked.)

  1. Link both a switch and a sensor to the controller.
  2. Use the switch to turn the load on to the desired level (this is usually full but does not have to be)
  3. Press the TEACH button on the sensor.
  4. Immediately press the ON side of the switch 4 times. The lights should blink off and back on.
  5. Turn the lights off, wait until the vacancy timeout has elapsed, and test functionality.
