How to Switch a Puck or RVI from Cobalt to Eos Mode or Eos to Cobalt Mode

Explanation

The ETCnomad Puck and Net3 RVI (or RVI3) can be booted into Cobalt or Eos mode.

Once in Cobalt mode, you may need to switch back to Eos.

Once in Eos mode, you may need to switch back to Cobalt.

Steps to Solution

From Eos to Cobalt
  1. If you are in a show file, you will need to exit to the Eos Configuration Utility or Shell.  Press [Displays] and then choose {Exit} from the browser.  Confirm.
  2. From the Eos Configuration Utility start up screen, select {Settings}. System settings dialog displays.
  3. Select the {Maintenance} button from the options on the right side of the dialog. A complete list of maintenance options will display.
  4. Locate and select the {Switch to Cobalt Client} button from within the maintenance dialog. The Cobalt logo will display in a new dialog and you will be requested to confirm whether you would like to “Enable Cobalt Mode”.
  5. Click the green check mark in the bottom right hand corner of the dialog to commit to the change or click the red X to cancel the operation. When you have committed to the change, the Puck will reboot to the newly selected operating mode.
From Cobalt to Eos
  1. From the Cobalt login screen, select {System Settings}. The “System Settings” dialog will display.
  2. Locate and select the {Switch to Eos} button from within the “System settings” dialog under "Update". “Enable Eos Mode” will display along with a new screen display.
  3. Click the green check mark in the bottom right hand corner of the screen to commit to the change or click the red X to cancel the operation. When you have committed to the change, the Puck will reboot to the newly selected operating mode.
