How to Reseat NVMe drive in a Windows 10 Puck

Explanation

This article will walk you through how to replace or reseat the NVMe solid state drive (SSD) in your Windows 10 Puck.

Procedure

Open the Console

Disconnect power and other connections from the console before performing any service work.

  1. Flip Puck onto it's face and remove the four screws shown

  2. Lift to separate the bottom tray from the full enclosure

Replace or Reseat the Drive

The NVMe SSD is located on the main board highlighted in yellow

  1. Use a Phillips #1 driver to remove the screw which holds the SSD in placeclipboard_ef26cbb9465f7cc03d60bbd49dc131b45.png
  2. The NVMe SSD should pop up to about a 30 degree angle. Pull the drive out.
    If reseating the drive, reinsert the drive at the same angle.
    If replacing the drive, insert the new drive at the same angle.

  3. Replace the screw to push the NVMe SSD down. Make sure to fully hand-tighten the screw to ensure a good connection between the drive and motherboard.
  4. Close the console and replace all screws.

Reimage the Console

If you have replaced the drive with a new one, follow the reimage instructions for your console to reinstall the operating system and software.
