Splotchy or Dark Backlight on Eos Apex Internal Touch Screens

Issue

When I boot up my Eos Apex Console, one or both internal touch screens are splotchy or not lit at all. There's still content on the screen, but it is hard to see without the backlight. Apex Backlight.png

Explanation of Issue

This can be caused by a loose backlight cable. The steps below will walk you through how to reseat that cable.

 

Fix/Solution

Required Materials:
  • #1 Phillips Screwdriver
Instructions:
  1. Shut down your console and disconnect power
  2. Remove the center display cover by removing the screws outlined as shown

  1. On the back of each touch screen, there will be a small blue PCB for the backlight driver.

  1. Identify the wire harness with the small blue/black wires. Unplug that connection and plug it back in.
  2. Reassemble the console, power it back up, and test.
