After updating the firmware on a High Speed I/O card or Gadget II using a Windows 7 Element or Ion, the console may no longer boot. On startup, the external monitors will display the standard ETC logo and then the primary monitor will display just a white blinking cursor on a black background.
Explanation of Issue
The firmware update on your I/O card failed and the device remained in bootloader mode. Follow the steps below to get the I/O card out of bootloader mode, allowing the console to boot properly.
- Press and hold the power button to power off the console.
- Fully unplug power from the back of the console.
- Wait 30 seconds then power the console back up.
- Try updating firmware on your Gadget/IO Board again. If it fails again, please contact ETC Technical Services.
