Why Won't My VGA Monitor Receive Signal From The Ion's DVI-D Port?

Issue

I am using an adapter (DVI-I to VGA) between my Ion console and monitor, but the monitor is not receiving signal. 

I am certain the both the adapter and monitor are functional. 

Explanation

The DVI-D port on the Ion is outputting a digital signal, however your VGA monitor is looking for an analog signal. For this reason you must use an electronic converter box (digital DVI to analog VGA) between the console and monitor for compatibility.
