Video Stream support in Eos v3.3.0
Description
Eos v3.3.0 was Beta-tested with support for Video Stream inputs to Pixel Maps and Augment3d, as well as for direct display in a tab.
The Eos team originally embarked on the Video Stream feature to allow users at all levels of production, regardless of budget or hardware access, to begin integrating video streams into their lighting workflows. This feature allowed users to take in video streams via the NDI protocol, and use it for displays in tabs, Magic Sheets, Augment3d, and in Pixel Maps. Unfortunately, late in Eos v3.3 development, Vizrt, who owns the NDI protocol, changed their licensing terms, which do not align with ETC’s goals and the original terms we used for development. As a result, we have had to remove the Video Stream feature from Eos v3.3.0 entirely.
We still believe video content can enrich the future of production lighting and are looking at other options. It is our plan to return the Video Stream feature to an upcoming Eos release using one or several of those protocols very soon.
