What Version of Windows is my Console Running?
Explanation
Over the years, ETC has made a variety of changes to the embedded operating system used in Eos Family and Cobalt/Congo consoles.
Initially, Eos and Congo consoles used Windows XP as the embedded OS. In 2014, some consoles were upgraded to use Windows 7 as the embedded OS. In 2022, ETC began manufacturing some consoles using Windows 10 as the embedded OS.
At times, it may be helpful to know what embedded OS your console is using:
- Eos Classic only ever had Windows XP embedded
- Congo only ever had Windows XP embedded
- Consoles and rack-mount devices with 1 Ethernet port are running Windows XP embedded
- Consoles and rack-mount devices with 2 Ethernet ports are running Windows 7 or Windows 10 embedded
- Consoles and rack-mount devices with USB-C ports are running Windows 10 embedded
- ETCnomad Pucks with 1 Ethernet port are running Windows 7 embedded
- ETC Pucks with 2 Ethernet ports are running Windows 10 embedded
