ETC Eos and Congo/Cobalt family devices have used three different embedded operating systems over the years.
This article will help you identify which embedded operating system your device uses.
Eos family devices running Windows XP cannot be updated higher than Eos version 2.9.3.
Congo/Cobalt family devices running Windows XP cannot be updated higher than Cobalt version 7.3.1.
All devices running Windows 7 or Windows 10 can be updated to the latest versions of Eos or Cobalt software.
If your console or rackmount device has only one Ethernet port, it uses Windows XP.
If your console or rackmount device has two Ethernet ports but does not have USB-C ports, it uses Windows 7.
If your console or rackmount device has two or more Ethernet ports and has USB-C ports, it uses Windows 10.
If your Puck has only one Ethernet port, it uses Windows 7.
If your Puck has two Ethernet ports, it uses Windows 10.

Between 2014 and 2021, some Windows XP devices were eligible for an upgrade to Windows 7.
Since 2025, some Windows 7 devices have been eligible for upgrade to Windows 10.
