Why Is My MicroVision Console Showing Disk Seek Errors?
Error Message
Console displays "Disk Seek Error" when attempting diskette functions. Problem exists with multiple known good diskettes, and the disk drive does not appear to be damaged.
Explanation of Issue
Some MicroVision consoles towards the end of the console's production would begin to experience Disk Seek errors. Due to variability in the 9266 Disk I/O chip, it was often difficult to find 9266 chips that would work in new MicroVision processor boards coming out of production.
Fix/Solution
ETC's Repairs department has a hardware fix that will resolve this issue. If you are interested in sending your console in for repair, please contact your preferred ETC dealer.
