Grounding Nut Sizes for Middle Atlantic DWR Series Racks
Issue
The Protective Earth Terminals (PET) require nuts to secure the protective earth and bonding connections and those nuts are either missing or weren't provided.
Explanation of Issue
Pivoting wall equipment racks consist of a backpan that connects to the wall and a pivoting center section equipment rack that sits on that backpan. To ensure that proper earth protection is connected between the equipment rack and the backpan, a bonding wire is used between the PET and the bonding studs. These terminals are marked with the grounding symbol but are different sizes between the backpan and the center section.
Installation Instructions
Protective earth and bonding connections shall be in accordance with Article 250 of the National Electric Code
Backpan (A)
- Use a 1/4"-20 flange nut to attach the backpan bonding wire to the protective earth terminal (PET) in the backpan.
Important: The main protective earth ground needs to be the first terminal placed on the PET and this terminal needs to be secured on its own with a nut. The bonding wire for the center section can be added to the PET after securing the nut for the main ground.
Center Section (B)
- Use a 10-32 locking nut to attach the other end of the backpan bonding wire to the nearest 10-32 center section bonding stud.
