ColorSource PAR CPU3 loud fan noise

Issue

ColorSource PAR fixtures that shipped around Q3/Q4 of 2023 have fans that produce louder-than-normal noise. Only CPU3 fixtures running v4.0.1 firmware are affected.

To determine if your fixture has a CPU3 processor, look at the serial number label located on the fixture next to where the yoke attaches. The firmware version appears on the display for a few seconds when the fixture is powered on.

Explanation of Issue

This is caused by an error with the fan frequency in the fixture firmware. Only ColorSource PAR CPU3 fixtures are affected.

Solution

Update the fixture firmware to 4.0.2, which was released December 11, 2023. The 4.0.2 firmware adjusts the fan frequency, reducing the overall volume of the sound produced.
