Grinding Zoom in ColorSource Fresnel V

 Symptoms/Issue

Some ColorSource Fresnel V fixtures will grind while zooming in or out.  This was mostly found to be on fixtures positioned vertically, but other situations are possible as well.

Explanation of Issue

ETC had initially traced this issue down to insufficient initial burn-in time on the zoom assembly.  A 1-hour burn-in with the fixture horizontal seemed to resolve the issue. 

There was also a later, minor update to the size of the rails just to ensure smooth travel.  The latest update addressed the top nub of the lens ring which might rub at full extension in rare instances.  

We have also seen repairs where the partition inside warps and prevents initial homing of the zoom function which can cause grinding as well.

If you are having grinding issues, it is now recommended to return it for repair to investigate the cause.  These updates have been implemented for a while now and only rarely caused issues.  Current product shouldn't have a problem unless there's something else at play.
