Source 4WRD Heat Pipe Freezing Issues

ETC’s Source 4WRD LED retrofit has a custom heat pipe that utilizes a water evaporation/wick process to keep the LED array cool. If your Source 4WRD is exposed to freezing conditions, the water in this heat pipe may expand to the point where it can cause damage to your LED array, causing your fixture to become inoperable.

If your Source 4WRD is exposed to freezing temperatures, let it warm up to at least 4°C (39°F) before turning on your fixture, otherwise the rapid thawing of the water may cause excess pressure within the heat pipe and could cause a rupture.
