EM24 Common Repair Issues

Problem:  What do I do if there is water damage?

Answer:  Phase A and Reset circuit will be affected, and it must come in for repair.

Problem:  What do I do if a pattern of lights is out (possibly every third one) (Showing one of the phases to be out.  Phase A 1-4, 13-16.  Phase B 5-8, 17-20.  Phase C 9-12, 21-24)

Answer:  Look at the transformers and see if one half is brown (both halves should be a beige color), if one half is brown that means that there has been a short, and possibly a lightning strike.  This means that a phase is out, and the EM24 must come in for repair.

Problem:  What do I do if I have flickering lights and output?

Answer:  Z45 ETC part # Z207 must be replaced.  This is a 96177 socketed chip. This chip pops out and can be replaced easily.  When taking this chip out and replacing it, the person should be grounded.

Problem:  What do I do if some lights fade differently than others?

Answer:  That phase needs to be re-calibrated by a qualified ETC tech.

Problem:  AMX has a flashing output

Answer:  Bad Z43 ETC part # Z195

Problem:  DMX outputs flicker

Answer: Bad Z45 ETC part # Z207

NOTES:  Self-tests can be run on this.  Set address digi-switch to "92 CHASE" and press reset.  This runs a chase through all 24 channels.  This will tell you that the controller is sending DMX to the channels.

Another self test:  Set address digi-switch to "93 ALL FADE" and press reset.  This tells you if all of your channels are fading correctly.

To test if you are receiving DMX, Set address to "01", Data light will be flashing if you are not receiving DMX.  If DMX is present, then replace Z45 ETC part # Z207 this is a socketed chip.  This chip pops out and can be replaced easily.  When taking this chip out and replacing it, the person should be grounded.
