Encoder Information - MCI

There are multiple encoder options that can be used with ETC Rigging 3rd Party Controls.

Fixed Speed Motor Starter (FSMS):

• TTL Encoder (Differential Signal)
  • 5-30 VDC Supply
  • 5V Signal
• HTL Encoder (Differential Signal)
  • 5-30 VDC Supply
  • Requires HTL -> TTL Conversion Card
• Quadrature Encoder (Single Ended Signal)
  • 5 VDC Supply
• 10k Analog Pot
  • Not recommended

 

Variable Speed Motor Starter (VSMS):

• TTL Encoder (Differential Signal)
  • 5-30 VDC Supply
  • 5V Signal
• HTL (Differential Signal)
  • 5-30 VDC Supply
  • Requires HTL -> TTL Conversion Card
• 10k Analog Pot
  • For use with SoftLift Fixed Speed Control Only, not reccommended.

 

Motor Control Interface (MCI):

• TTL Encoder (Differential Signal)
  • 5-30 VDC Supply
  • 5V Signal
• HTL (Differential Signal)
  • 5-30 VDC Supply
  • Requires HTL -> TTL Conversion Card
• 10k Analog Pot

 

ETC recommends using an encoder with a minimum resolution of 1024 pulses/rotation.

ETC recommends using Belden 9728 or equivalent for encoder field wiring.
