There are multiple encoder options that can be used with ETC Rigging 3rd Party Controls.
Fixed Speed Motor Starter (FSMS):
- TTL Encoder (Differential Signal)
- 5-30 VDC Supply
- 5V Signal
- HTL Encoder (Differential Signal)
- 5-30 VDC Supply
- Requires HTL -> TTL Conversion Card
- Quadrature Encoder (Single Ended Signal)
- 5 VDC Supply
- 10k Analog Pot
- Not recommended
Variable Speed Motor Starter (VSMS):
- TTL Encoder (Differential Signal)
- 5-30 VDC Supply
- 5V Signal
- HTL (Differential Signal)
- 5-30 VDC Supply
- Requires HTL -> TTL Conversion Card
- 10k Analog Pot
- For use with SoftLift Fixed Speed Control Only, not reccommended.
Motor Control Interface (MCI):
- TTL Encoder (Differential Signal)
- 5-30 VDC Supply
- 5V Signal
- HTL (Differential Signal)
- 5-30 VDC Supply
- Requires HTL -> TTL Conversion Card
- 10k Analog Pot
ETC recommends using an encoder with a minimum resolution of 1024 pulses/rotation.
ETC recommends using Belden 9728 or equivalent for encoder field wiring.
Encoder Type | Signal Level | Supply Voltage | Signal Output Voltage |
TTL | High | 4.75 - 30 VDC | 3V Min (5V Max) |
Low | 4.75 - 30 VDC | 0.5V Max
HTL* | High | 4.75 - 9 VDC | 3V Min |
High | 9 - 30 VDC | Supply Voltage - 3V (Min)
Low | 4.75 - 30 VDC | 0.5V Max |
*Requires an HTL -> TTL Conversion Card
