Foundation has a built in Version control system. Once a file is saved under a specific name, the system will save the current version of this file, and previous versions will still be saved and can later be recalled using the "History" button.
The show file dialog is used to manage Foundation show files for the internal memory and for any USB storage device. You can use the dialog to create new show files, load existing ones, save new versions, clear the current show file in the system, delete files, create folders, and
edit show file names.
To access the show file dialog:
- Press the menu button in the lower left corner. The menu options will appear.
- Select "File." The "Show File" dialog will appear.

When you are working with show files the following tips can help you use the show file system efficiently and to optimize your time when programming new shows.
Your First Show File
After your system has been installed and commissioned, create a "Default" show file that contains names and trims for all of the designated motors in your system (such as main curtain, electrics, cyc, masking, or other motors whose purpose will remain unchanged from show to show).
Once created, you can use this Default show as a template for new shows.
Starting a New Show
When you start a new show, load the 'Default" show file and immediately store it under the name of the show you are about to create.
Add new content to the newly named show file, saving under the new name as you go.

Once you have entered data into your system, you should save it in a show file.
NOTE: Foundation maintains a complete version control history of show files. When you save a file, a date and time stamp are added as version control. When you save again, the old data is not overwritten or eliminated, a new version is created and older versions are accessible from the " History" button.
To save the current data to a show file:
- Press the menu button in the lower left corner. The menu options will appear.
- Select "File." The "Show File" dialog will appear.
- If the current show file has been saved previously, its name will appear in the "Show Name" field. Press "Save" to save the current show file under the name.
- Press "Save As" to store the file under a new name.
NOTE: It is recommended that you enter a sensible, relevant note in the "Comment" field of the Save As dialog. Doing so will help you distinguish the significance of any given version later.
