Wiring Guidelines - Foundation

System Layout and Wiring Guidelines

The following guidelines should be used for laying out control wiring for a standalone Foundation Rigging Control System.

  • A Foundation Rigging Controller has two Motor Control Output (MCX) ports for a maximum of 48 hoists.
    • A maximum of 24 hoists can be connected per Hoist Control (C) wiring run.
    • The total combined length of each Hoist Control run cannot exceed 500 feet (150 meters).
  • Multiple MCX Nodes can be used with a standalone Foundation Rigging Controller to control a total of 96 hoists.
    • A maximum of 12 hoists can be connected per Hoist Control wiring run connected to an MCX Node.
    • The total combined length of each Hoist Control run cannot exceed 500 feet (150 meters).
  • A standalone Foundation Rigging Controller has two E-stop station inputs.
    • A maximum of 3 E-stop Button Stations are allowed per E-stop run.
    • The total combined length of each E-stop (ES) wiring run cannot exceed 500 feet (150 meters).
  • A Foundation has a single Remote port. This port can be used with the Fixed Speed Remote Control (FSRC), Remote Enable Button (RENB) or Foundation Handheld Remote (FHHR2 & HHR-PS).
    • The total combined length of the Remote Control (RC) wiring run cannot exceed 500 feet (150 meters).
    • A maximum of 3 Handheld Remote Plug-in Stations (HHR-PS) can be daisy chained on the Remote Control run to provide multiple plug-in stations for a single FHHR2.
  • All Hoist Control and E-stop runs shall be continuous, unspliced runs.
  • Hoist Control, E-stop and Remote Control wiring must be installed in grounded metal conduit unless shielded cable (Cat5e STP or better) is used.

All Hoist Control, E-stop and Remote Control wiring runs should be Belden 1583A, or any Cat5e or better cable.

Foundation HD with MCX Node(s)

Up to four (4) MCX Nodes may be used with a standalone Foundation Rigging Controller to run a maximum of 96 hoists. The MCX A and/or MCX B ports on Foundation are used to connect to the SafetyLink In port on MCX Node.  A maximum of 12 hoists can be connected per Hoist Control wiring run connected to an MCX Node.

The E-stop A, E-stop B, and Remote Control ports can be used as indicated above without modification.

Foundation Desk

Foundation Desk is a portable version of the Foundation HD Rigging Controller. Foundation Desk has all of the same options as Foundation HD above. All field wiring terminates at the wall mount Foundation Desk Power Supply with an umbilical cable connecting Foundation Desk to the wall mounted power supply.
