Using DL 2 and DL 3 with a generator power

Many touring shows are successfully operating DL.3 and DL.2 fixtures from generated power. However, there have been occasional reports of generators having failures or problems that can cause excessive spikes or wide voltage fluctuations.

When generators exhibit these problems, damage could sometimes occur to DL.3 and DL.2 fixtures using them for power.

You can avoid this potential problem by isolating DL.3 and DL.2 media servers from generators with a UPS or good quality power conditioner as you would do with DMX512 consoles and other front of house equipment.
