CueSystem Device Discovery Window Cannot Send Changes
Symptoms/Issue
In the CueSystem software's Device Discovery window, device property changes such as IP addresses cannot be sent. The status for any changed devices stays Altered and never changes to Sent, even if clicking Send Device Changes or Send All Changes. In the log at the bottom of the primary CueSystem software window, you may see the message "An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions." If this error does not appear but the device will not take networks settings changes, please contact ETC technical services.
Description/Explanation of Issue
Updaterator uses the same socket as CueSystem Device Discovery to find CueSystem devices. If Updaterator is opened first, it will reserve that socket to allow it to update CueSystem devices. This will allow Device Discovery to find the devices, but it will not be able to send new changes to them as it is blocked by Updaterator.
The CueSystem software uses socket 21 for FTP to transfer a configuration file to the devices. If you are running into this issue and Updaterator is not open, it is possible another program is reserving that port or a firewall is blocking it.
Fix/Solution
- Close Updaterator
- Click Clear All Changes in Device Discovery
- Resend any device changes
