Setting up Emphasis System Components

Setting System ID

This must be changed in two places, and then the Emphasis Application as a whole needs to be shut down and rebooted.

  1. Login
  2. Launch Emphasis
  3. Minimize Application
  4. Performed in Emphasis Console Application
    1. Go to Task Bar at bottom of screen
    2. Right-click on Emphasis Console tab
    3. Select 'Restore'
    4. Select 'Options' from the bar at the top
    5. Select 'System ID'
    6. Set System ID number in the 'System' box
    7. The Name box is the Label that appears on the facepanel Login screen
    8. Select 'OK'
    9. Minimize Console application
  5. Performed in Emphasis Visualization Application
    1. Restore Emphasis Visualization
    2. Go to the Emphasis mode
    3. Select 'Options' from the bar at the top
    4. Select 'Application Options'
    5. Click the Emphasis tab
    6. Set the SAME System ID that you set in Console Application
    7. Select 'OK'
  6. Logout
  7. Login as Emphasis user
  8. Reboot facepanel

Setting Facepanel Type

Any login has permission to change this setting. This setting will affect the CRT displays of all facepanels connected to the system.

  1. Go to Visualization Emphasis mode
  2. Click on 'Setup'
  3. Click on 'Facepanel Type'
  4. Choose the facepanel that will be connected to the system
  5. Click 'OK'
  6. Close and re-launch Emphasis for the changes to take effect

Setting Password for System Manager

  1. Login as System Manger
  2. Go to Start Button
  3. Select 'All Programs'
  4. Select 'User Accounts'
  5. Click 'Create a Password'
  6. Type in password in appropriate spaces
  7. Type hint. This hint will appear when you press the question mark by the login.
  8. Click 'Create Password' (This password will be required the next time you login as System Manager)

Emphasis System Manager Password Protection

Changing or Removing System Manager Password (if known)

  1. Login as System Manager with known password
  2. Go to Start
  3. Select 'All Programs'
  4. Select 'User Accounts'
  5. Click 'Remove my password'
  6. Type password in the box
  7. Click 'Remove Password'

If you don't know what the password is an ETC Authorized Technician can remove it using the Technical Service login. An end-user would need to reload the disk image in order to remove the password.

Changing or Removing System Manager Password (if unknown)

If you are an end-user and you do not know your existing System Manager password, you should contact ETC Technical Services for assistance.
