Creating a Template Show File in Eos v3.2

Template Show File

Creating a base file that is patched to the repertory plot of your venue has become easier with Eos version 3.2. With Eos version 3.2 we can list a show as a template show file that cannot be overridden. After defining a template show file when starting a new show it will allow you to create a new show or new show from template.

Why use a Template Show File

By using this method you can start every new show with the correct patch, macros, network settings, and anything else defined in the template show file.

How to set it up
After creating a show file that we would like to have as a base to build off of we can exit into the shell and select settings.

Under the general tab we can select our base file. Screenshot 2023-04-14 at 8.32.37 PM.pngScreenshot 2023-04-14 at 8.33.20 PM.png

Now when creating a new show we can select "New From Template"

We now have have a base file opened as a new untitled document that we can save as our new show. It is not possible to accidentally save over the show.

If we want to make changes to the template show file then we will need to save a new show file and select that newly saved show file as our new template file.

Multiconsole Systems

In a multiconsole system, the template show file from the Primary is shown on all devices in the session, and will be used in a New From Template action.
