Express console losing show memory
Symptoms/Issue
Express console show memory is resetting after power down
Description/Explanation of Issue
The Express console family uses a super capacitor for show memory data retention. The super capacitor maintains sufficient charge for memory retention for approximately four to six days, so it is recommended to use a floppy disk as an external backup for shows.
If the Express console is losing the show memory immediately after a power cycle, it is likely an issue with the super capacitor circuit, though the SRAM chips themselves can also cause this issue. This problem is not repairable in the field.
Fix/Solution
- A very temporary solution is to use a disk and reload the show file every time the console is powered on
