Answer:
While the hardware will boot and run, the key layouts (especially the number pad) are very, very different between the two console families. It is not recommended to try to use the RFU2 that does not match the console family it was designed to connect with.
RFU1 units are not compatible with consoles newer than the Expression 1 family.
