ETC devices cannot find firmware after downloading with a Mac
Issue
After downloading firmware for an ETC Product using a Mac computer, the ETC device can't find the file on a flashdrive or SD.
Solution
Mac computers have a software called "Archive Utility" that attempts to unzip downloaded files for you. By default, Archive Utility is configured to unzip files to the furthest level it can. This can be helpful for everyday use, but ETC products often rely on having the firmware zipped to a specific level to find them. To resolve this issue, follow the steps below to disable 'Keep expanding if possible' in Archive Utility and then re-download your file.
- Open Spotlight search with Cmd+Spacebar
- Search for and open Archive Utility
- Navigate to Archive Utility>Settings
- Deselect 'Keep expanding if possible'
