Terminating DMX Wiring with Screw Terminals
Preparation
The DMX termination kits for Screw Terminal are:
Weidmuller (orange) 8-pin: 4100A1012
Weidmuller (orange) 3-pin: 4268K1002
CUI (blue) 8-pin: 4100A1022
CUI (blue) 3-pin: 4100A1023
Cat5/6 wiring should never be terminated via Phoenix (green) or Weidmuller (orange) screw terminal connectors. CUI (blue) screw terminal connectors have been validated and are acceptable for use with Cat5/6 cable. Required Tools:
- Wire Strippers
- 2.4mm (3/32") flat blade screwdriver
- Heat source for heat shrink
- Flush-Cutting diagonal cutters
- Cat 5/6 Cable Jacket Wire Stripper (for outer jacket)
Topology:
- Less than 500M (1640 feet) of Belden 9729 or equivalent per DMX line. See Cable Cross Database for equivalents.
- Daisy Chain/Linear topology
- Less than 32 devices per DMX line including the controller
- Noted as "D" or "X" cable type on ETC submittals
Kit includes:
- 4x 1.5mm (1/16") heat shrink, 178mm (7") length
- 4x 4.8mm (3/1") heat shrink, 38mm (1-1/2") length
- 2x 9.5mm (3/8") heat shrink, 51mm (2") length
- 2x 4.8mm (3/16") heat shrink, 25.4m (1") length
- 6 4" wire ties
- One screw terminal header
