Net2 2-port Node Direct Connection via Crossover cable

Problem:

Any nodes manufactured prior to 10/2002 may exhibit the following problem:

When directly connecting to the node via a crossover cable you never establish a link and communicate. This may be a direct connection to a laptop, console, or some other type of network device.

Solution:

If you introduce a switch or hub inline then you can establish a link and communicate.

All 2-ports manufactured prior to 10/2002 did not have a terminating resistor on the network interface connector.

The workaround at this point is a hub or a switch inline. If this is not feasible, Pathway will modify affected nodes for ETC. This will require bringing them back to ETC then forwarding them onto Pathways. This should only affect a very few older systems. Generally these nodes went to a switch or a hub.
