I can't give my Response DALI Gateway a DMX start address when it's in Individual mode. Which mode should I be using?
Individual mode allows you to assign a DMX address to each DALI fixture in your DALI loop to control them independently. Broadcast mode means that the gateway itself gets a single address, and all fixtures in the loop will be controlled as one, turning on and off simultaneously.
Generally speaking, in the US, installers prefer Broadcast mode. Fixtures on a loop of a gateway in Individual mode will not turn on simultaneously, which is often undesirable for the environments in which DALI is most commonly used.
