How to Terminate DMX on a Response Mk2 Gateway

Issue

Internally, there is a termination switch located by each DMX port of my Response Mk2 gateway. Which setting should my termination switch be in?

Description

Termination at the source and the last device in a DMX system is required. A termination switch on the gateway's PCB can be configured for DMX termination (IN), no termination (OFF), or DMX termination (OUT).

Use Cases

DMX Termination (IN)

Configured on the following port types by default: Male XLR.

Used when the DMX port has been configured as an input to the system. This provides the proper DMX termination necessary at the source of DMX.

No Termination (OFF)

Used when the DMX port has been wired with a touch-and-go application.

DMX Termination (OUT)

Configured on the following port types by default: Female XLR, RJ45, and terminals.

Used when the DMX port has been configured as an output to the system. This prevents unnecessary DMX termination in the system as the port is neither the source nor the last device in the DMX line.
