ColorSource Wireless Relays Receive DMX but Relay does not Trigger

Symptoms/Issue

ColorSource Wireless Relays will show that they are receiving DMX data and may even pass the DMX values on to other fixtures not powered from the relay, but the relay in the CSRW will not change state.

Explanation of Issue with Corresponding Solutions

This general symptom can be caused by a number of different independent factors. Here are some possible causes and their solution:

Cause 1: The ColorSource Relay could be set in DMX Mode instead of Auto Mode and the DMX address assigned (default: 512) is not on.

Solution 1a: Raise the level of the assigned DMX address above 50% (default threshold)
Solution 1b: Change the mode of the ColorSource Relay to Auto using an RDM editor (such as Net3 Concert)

Cause 2: The ColorSource Relay could be set in RDM Mode instead of Auto Mode.

Solution 2a: Use an RDM controller to send the Relay On/Off signal
Solution 2b: Change the mode of the ColorSource Relay to Auto using an RDM editor (such as Net3 Concert)

Cause 3: When using a ColorSource Wireless Transmitter with ColorSource Wireless Relays, the firmware of the Transmitter and Wireless Relay are out of sync.

Solution 3: Update the firmware on both the ColorSource Transmitter and ColorSource Wireless Relay to the same version.
            • For ColorSource Relay Wireless, copy the firmware files (available from http://www.etcconnect.com/Products/P.../Software.aspx) to a USB thumb drive, insert the drive in the unit and reboot (see firmware update procedures described in the manual).
            • For ColorSource Transmitter units, use ETC's UpdaterAtor software to update the unit in conjunction with an ETC Gadget, Gadget2, USB Whip, ETC Net3 Gateway, or Console.

Cause 4: When using a City Theatrical SHoW Baby as a Transmitter and ColorSource Wireless Relays running version 1.1.0+ as receivers, the firmware of the SHoW Baby may be incompatible with the ColorSource Wireless Relay in version 1.1.0+.

Solution 4: Using an RDM editor (such as Net3 Concert), check the radio version of the City Theatrical SHoW Baby. If the version is below 3.3, please contact City Theatrical to arrange for an RMA to upgrade the firmware in the SHoW Baby to be compatible with the ColorSource Wireless Relays. For additional information see: CTI Tech Bulletin 1034

Cause 5: When using a City Theatrical SHoW Neo as a Transmitter and ColorSource Wireless Relays running version 1.1.0+ as receivers, the firmware of the SHoW Neo may be incompatible with the ColorSource Wireless Relay in version 1.1.0+.

Solution 5: Using an RDM editor (such as Net3 Concert), check the radio version of the City Theatrical SHoW Neo. If the version is below 3.3, please contact City Theatrical to request compatible firmware with the ColorSource Wireless Relays. For additional information see: CTI Tech Bulletin 1034
