Revision to Ribbon Cable Adapter Boards
When upgrading a Sensor Classic rack to Sensor+ or Sensor3, adapters are required to connect the original signal distro ribbon cables to the slots on the new backplane.
There have been two revisions to these ribbon cable adapter boards over time.
Version 1
Two types of adapter board were necessary; one for the two lower slots on the backplane, and the other for the two upper slots. This was necessary since these adapters were tall enough that they would hit each other if not staggered.
- 7150B5606 (lower slots)
- 7150B5607 (upper slots)
Version 2
The adapter board was simplified to a single, shorter version, which can be used freely in any slot on the backplane.
- 7150B5707 (upper and lower slots)
These were phased into installation rack upgrade kits in 2018.
When ribbon cable adapters are installed correctly, the red lines on the incoming and outgoing ribbon cables will not match up; this is OK. Make sure the pin 1 indicator (chevron symbol) on the board matches up with the embossed triangle on the existing ribbon cable, as shown below:
Covers
These are plastic shell pieces that cover the adapter board for protection. The same shell was used for both revisions of adapter board.
