How to recover after accidentally installing the wrong firmware package on Hog Consoles

Accidentally installing the wrong firmware package onto a component inside a Tour Hog, Stage Hog, Flex Hog, or Gig Hog can cause the console to behave unpredictably. These consoles are designed with recovery paths. The goal is to get the affected component back to a known‑good firmware state, either by reinstalling the correct file or by performing a factory reset on the specific section that was flashed incorrectly.

For more information, please see the following sections in the user manual.

  • Section 30.7 Updating Front Panel Firmware
  • Section 33.6 Front Panel Firmware Reset

What does installing the wrong firmware typically cause

A mismatched or incorrect .s19 firmware file can lead to issues such as:

  1. A front‑panel section failing to light its LED backlights at power‑on
  2. A section disappearing from the System Info tab
  3. Buttons, Encoders, or Faders not responding
  4. A panel section behaving erratically after a manual update

How to remedy the issue

  1. Boot to the start screen and open Control Panel → System Info.
  2. If the affected component still appears (even with the wrong firmware version), you can usually fix it by reinstalling the correct firmware
  3. If the component does not appear, continue with the factory reset procedure:

Factory Reset Procedure: only one section of the front panel can be reset at a time

  1. Turn off the console
  2. Press and hold the keys outline with a red rectangle for the sections you want to reset
  3. Power on the console
  4. Release the keys after 8 seconds or until you see the other front panel sections light up
  5. When the reset is complete, the panel section will return to normal operation and will appear in the system info tab of the Control Panel
