Tour Hog Main Display Environmental Operation Guidelines
Operating Temperature
The Tour Hog is intended for use in ambient temperatures between 0°C and 35°C (32°F to 95°F), with relative humidity up to 90% non-condensing.
Operation outside this range may affect display performance and system usability. The display may automatically dim itself.
Outdoor Operation
When operating outdoors, ETC recommends protecting the console from direct sunlight whenever possible. Direct sunlight can significantly increase the temperature of the display assembly beyond the surrounding air temperature, particularly during extended daytime operation.
To help maintain optimal display visibility:
- Use a canopy, tent, or other shade structure when operating outdoors.
- Position the console to minimize direct solar exposure.
- Allow unrestricted airflow around the console.
- Avoid leaving the console in direct sunlight when not in use.
Display Brightness Protection
Under extreme environmental conditions, such as prolonged exposure to direct sunlight combined with high ambient temperatures, the Tour Hog main display may automatically reduce brightness. This behavior is part of the display's thermal protection system and is intended to prevent excessive internal temperatures within the display assembly.
Users may observe:
- Uniform reduction in display brightness
- Normal console operation and show playback
- Automatic recovery of display brightness once operating temperatures decrease
Note: This behavior does not indicate a fault in the console.
Environmental Considerations
Direct sunlight can heat display surfaces substantially above ambient air temperature. As a result, display temperatures may exceed recommended operating limits even when ambient conditions remain within the specified operating range.
For reliable outdoor operation, ETC recommends keeping the console shaded whenever practical during periods of elevated temperature.
