How to replace Playback Panel for Hoglet 4

Issue

The new Playback Assembly PCB is not compatible with the older version Programming Assembly PCB in the Hoglet 4 programming wing.  There is a kit if you need to replace it.

Explanation of Issue

You can determine what you need based on the serial number.  If it is 740010471 or after, you can order part number 80040081EF.

If it starts with 5508 or is prior to and including 740010470, you will need to order a kit.  It is part number 6102K1019, which includes a Playback and Programming PCB assembly, new ribbon cable, and instructions. (Playback Assembly PCB 80040070EF, Program Assembly PCB 80040067EF, and Ribbon Cable 90409558EF)

Solution

1.      Carefully remove the 10 fader knobs.  Remove the 4 encoder wheels using a 5/64” hex wrench.  Remove the 4 screws on the front panel and the 2 screws on the back using a 2.5 hex wrench.

2.      Disconnect the cables from the front panel board assemblies and unplug the ribbon cable between the Playback and Program PCBs.

3.      Remove the 19 phillips head screws securing the boards to the chassis, then separate the boards.

4.      Remove the encoder buttons from the old board, then remove the keycaps, preferably with a proper keycap puller.

5.      Install the encoder buttons and keycaps onto the new boards.

6.      Secure the new boards to the front panel chassis using the 19 screws.

7.      Install the new ribbon cable between the two boards.

8.      Reconnect the power and data cables. Reposition the front panel into place and refasten the hex screws on the front and rear.

9.      Reinstall the fader knobs and encoder wheels.
