Not able to control Axon HD or Axon HD Pro via ArtNet
Symptoms/Issue
Axon HD / Axon HD Pro does not respond to ArtNet.
Description/Explanation of Issue
The issue might occur due to the following reasons
- Starting channel for the output does not correlate to what is patched
- The Axon HD / Axon HD Pro's output source is set to DMX
- The ArtNet Subnet and Universe in the console does not match what the console is outputting
- The IP address settings on the console are wrong
Fix/Solution
- Check and make sure the server can output to the display
- Open the CMA and navigate to the media server that is having the issue
- Navigate to "Display Connections"
- On the output that is being used, click on the drop-down menu for "video self-test"
- Choose "1"
- Click "Apply"
If a video appears on the display, continue to the next steps.
If a video does not appear on the display, try rebooting the Axon. After the reboot, try the video self-test again. If it still does not work, contact HES support.
- Make sure the source for the output is set to ArtNet
- Open the CMA and navigate to the media server that is having the issue
- Navigate to "Server"
- Change the "Source" to Art-Net
- Try to bring media up on the Axon from the console, if it does not work, continue to the next step.
- Make sure the starting channel for the output is the same as the address patched to on the console
- Open the CMA and navigate to the media server that is having the issue
- Navigate to "Server"
- Confirm the "Start Channel" matches the starting address for the Global layer in the patch on the console
- Try to bring media up on the Axon from the console, if it does not work, continue to the next step.
- Make sure the ArtNet subnet and universe is the same as the console's artnet output and universe
- Open the CMA and navigate to the media server that is having the issue
- Navigate to "Art-Net & I/O"
- Confirm the ArtNet subnet and universe numbers
- Make the console match what is in the CMA
- Try to bring media up on the Axon from the console, if it does not work, continue to the next step.
- Make sure the console is in the right IP address range and has the proper subnet mask of the Axon
- If able to, put a router in the network to be the DHCP server. Set the Axon to receive an IP address via DHCP and set the console to receive an IP address via DHCP.
- Put the console in the same range as the Axon's IP address
- Set the console's netmask to be the same as the Axon's netmask.
The Axon will default to a 169.254.###.### IP address and a class B (255.255.0.0) netmask - Try to bring media up on the Axon from the console, if it does not work, continue to the next step.
