High End Systems LED Lighting Fixtures Intermittently Twitch When Connected to Data

Symptoms/Issue

Fixtures will twitch occasionally. Examples of the twitching can include a quick and minimal pan/tilt movement,  output blinks, a quick slight movement of gobo/color/animation wheel or any other function in the fixture.

Description/Explanation of Issue

An outside source is causes fixtures to twitch due to intermittent data signals.

This is a different issue from when fixtures receive data and RDM simultaneously. Refer to the RDM article under Related Links below

Fix/Solution

  1. Ensure the DMX refresh rate is set to maximum on consoles and any peripherals on the data link.
  2. If twitching still occurs then the fixtures and console must be isolated from other peripherals on the data link such as a node, switch, router, etc.
  3. Run a data line directly from the console to the fixture for testing.
  4. Once it is determined that the fixtures no longer twitch then troubleshooting steps need to be taken on the peripherals
