Combining two user libraries for the EchoTouch

Symptoms/Issue

There are times when you have two or more different custom devices that have been created for multiple different ColorSource Console/EchoTouch show files that you would like to combine into one convenient user library.  This guide will walk you through the process of combining these into one user generated library for versions above and below 3.4.0.

Materials needed

You will need a USB thumb drive, a windows computer with the ColorSource-EchoTouch Personality Editor, and either ColorSource Software or EchoTouch installed (both softwares are located at ColorSource Consoles Software).  You will also need the custom fixture profiles you wish to merge saved as userlib.jlip filenames.

Step-By-Step Process 3.4.0 and above

  1. Load your first user library named "userlib.jlip" onto the root of a USB drive
  2. Open either the ColorSource Console or EchoTouch offline software
  3. Create a new show
  4. Go to "Patch"
  5. Go to "Add Device"
  6. Click "Standard Library" to drop down a menu then click "USB (userlib.jlib""
  7. Select your profile and click "Copy to User Library"
  8. Repeat 7 for all additional profiles you wish to be added.
  9. Delete the file named "userlib.jilp" off of the root of your USB drive
  10. Load your second user library named "userlib.jlip" onto the root of a USB drive
  11. Repeat steps 4 through 8, adding the desired profiles from the second library
    1. (If you have additional custom fixture libraries, you can repeat steps 9 through 11  as needed before you proceed to step 12)
  12. Save this show

At this point, all of those custom profiles will be stored in the "Console User Library" section of the patch device screen.  If you want to have a copy of all of those devices on one collected user library you can easily import into other devices, continue with the following steps:

  1. In the Patch screen, click "Add Device" and add one device with each of the custom profiles you added in the above steps
    1. Address, channel number, and count do not matter at this point, feel free to just go with the default values the software selects
    2. If you want a smaller footprint file, you can delete all of the devices you just patched after patching them all
  2. Save this show, then export it to USB
  3. Open the ColorSource-EchoTouch Personality Editor
  4. Within the editor, open the show file you saved in step 12
  5. Click "Save for Console"

You now have one custom library with all of the fixtures from the different libraries that you can import onto other devices!

Step-By-Step Process 3.3.3 and below

  1. Load your first user library named "userlib.jlip" onto the root of a USB drive
  2. Open either the ColorSource Console or EchoTouch offline software
  3. Create a new show
  4. Go to "Patch"
  5. Go to "Add Device"
  6. Click "Standard Library" to drop down a menu then click "User Library"
  7. Select your profile and click "Accept"
  8. Repeat 7 for all additional profiles you wish to be added
  12. Save this show and Export to USB
  13. Open the ColorSource-EchoTouch Personality Editor
  14. Within the editor, open the show file you exported in step 12
  15. Click "Save for Console"

You should now have one custom library with all of the fixtures from all of the original custom libraries.
