BPS is Not Online in Mosaic Designer

Symptoms

After installing a BPS, despite adding one to your Mosaic Configuration you may not find the BPS online when you attempt to upload configuration.

Explanation of Issue

Mosaic BPS require a DHCP server to be on when they boot up so an IP address can be assigned.  Without receiving an IP address in the same range as your controller and your machine running Mosaic Designer, it will not be able to come online.

Solution

  1. Add a DHCP server to the network during your initial configuration. Below are a few common options for DHCP servers on ETC Networks
    1. PC via Net3 Gateway Configuration Editor Software
      1. Please refer to the GCE Manual for instructions on how to do this
    2. Conductor (if available on the site)
    3. Eos Family console
    4. Network switch (availability depends on your model of switch)
  2. Reboot the BPS so it can obtain an IP from the server
  3. The BPS should now be discoverable in Mosaic Designer
    1. If the DHCP server you set up was temporary, you'll need to assign a static IP to your BPS from the network settings tab in Mosaic Designer.
    2. If your DHCP server is going to remain permanently on the network, you can leave the BPS IP settings as they are.
