Mosaic Controller Error Codes

MSC (1,2,4)

Error codes are indicated by double flashing the Ethernet, USB, and MIDI LEDs, followed by a 1 second pause. The Active LED will also be off. The bottom four LEDs indicate the error:

  • Ethernet, MIDI, and USB double flashing
    • Serial on solid - memory card missing (insert or replace memory card)
    • Digital on solid - memory card corrupt (format or replace memory card)
    • DMX on solid - hardware failure (contact our support)
    • Serial & Input on solid - coprocessor failure (contact tech support)
  • Ethernet & USB double flashing- failed to boot firmware.
  • Ethernet, MIDI, and USB triple flashing – memory card is missing.
    • Replace the card

MSC (X)

Front Panel LED Status Indicators

  • The ETC Logo will illuminate when power is applied to the unit
  • Active:  Flashes throughout the boot up procedure and lights solidly once this has been completed and is indicative of a fully functional unit.
  • Ethernet: Indicates Mosaic-related network activity (NOT network link) while other LEDs indicate communication on the various ports of the MSC X.
  • Output: Indicates that a valid project file has been loaded from the memory card and that playback and data output  (eDMX and DVI) has started
  • Over-temp:  Will illuminate if the processor core(s) reach 95° Celsius or 203° Fahrenheit. This is indicative of a fault in system cooling, typically caused by a raised ambient temperatures.
    • Look at the webUI of the controller for current Temp readings and take remedial action.

Front Panel LED Error Codes (all LEDs):

  • 1 flash – Invalid build version
    • Reload Firmware
  • 2 flashes – Unable to determine serial number
    • Contact ETC technical support
  • 3 flashes – SPI Flash Test Failed
    • Reboot the unit, if the unit continues to fail, contact ETC technical support
  • 4 flashes –Unable to perform front panel factory reset as factory firmware is corrupt
    • Contact ETC technical support
  • 5 flashes – Current firmware is corrupt, no valid firmware available to restore
    • Reload firmware
  • 6 flashes- Restored front panel firmware  is corrupt
    • Reload firmware

Main board LED Codes (bottom 4 LEDs):

  • 2 flashes – Failed to power up main board
    • Contact ETC technical support
  • 3 flashes – Firmware failed to boot
    • Reload Firmware
  • 4 flashes – Power failed during boot
    • Reboot the unit once regular power is restored
  • 5 flashes – Power failed during normal operation
    • Reboot the unit once regular power is restored
  • 6 flashes –Watchdog timeout expired
    • Main board errors can usually be resolved by removing the Compact Flash card and running the MSC X recovery tool. The MSC X recovery tool will reformat the compact flash card and reinstall firmware. All project data will be erased and so an upload will be required to restore programming.

AVC

Bootloader LED Codes:

  • Ethernet & USB double flashing- failed to boot firmware.
    • Use the AVC firmware Updater to repair
  • NTSC & PAL solid + Ethernet/USB indicating activity- erasing Flash
    • This is not an error. This will occur every time that firmware is reloaded.
  • NTSC & PAL solid + Ethernet/USB indicating activity-  programming flash
    • This is not an error. This will occur every time that firmware is reloaded.

Firmware LED Codes:

  • Ethernet &USB double flashing + Serial solid –CF Card is missing.
    • CF card missing (insert or replace the card)
